With the construction of the new Albany Convention Center, now known as the "Capital Center", in Downtown Albany, NY, HDG was retained to complete the rehabilitation and addition to the standing 1980’s enclosed pedestrian walkway. The previous structure was riddled with openings creating weather breaches and corrosion. HDG added new curtain walls, doors, ventilation louvers at all openings and coordinated design for a new infrared heating system and fans with a MEP designer.

HDG’s work has resulted in an improved user experience. New HVAC throughout is now efficient for this open space, new lighting creates a welcoming feel, new elevator and elevator upgrades improve function. This structure is now better able to meet the projected and currently increasing amount of foot traffic of residents, workers, and visitors between conference and entertainment venues such as the Times Union Center, the Empire State Plaza, and now the NEW Albany Capital Center and Renaissance Hotel.
