ALBANY, NY.
The long awaited and highly anticipated Albany Convention Center was unveiled at a ground breaking ribbon cutting and was well attended. First conceived of by former Albany Mayor Jennings the new Convention Center now lives at the corner of Broadway and Eagle St. HDG was involved in the enclosed pedestrian walkway renovation and new addition. A "walking transit" connecting to the new Center and Renaissance Hotel. The walkway can be entered at various locations, one of the farthest points is the entrance on Pearl St. to the right of the TU Center. From there the public can walk in a sheltered, temperature controlled path to the TU parking garage, the new Convention Center, Eagle Street venues and hotels, and the Empire State Plaza and Egg. Albany is showing an increased amount of downtown residents, dining and retail venues of which the renovated walkway will better serve residents, workers and visitors to the downtown area.
